LUMY Property Services completed a full outdoor transformation at Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York, working for Active Care Group.

Woodlands supports people with neurological conditions, so its outdoor areas had to be safe, accessible and genuinely usable, while also giving residents, staff and families a calmer, more therapeutic place to spend time. We delivered improvements across access, security, usability and sensory value.

Outdoor space in a rehabilitation setting has to work harder than a standard commercial exterior. It needs to be safe underfoot for wheelchair users and residents with reduced mobility, secure and low-maintenance for staff, and welcoming for visiting families. At Woodlands the brief was to make the grounds both more practical to move around and more pleasant to be in.

Woodlands now has a safer, more accessible and more engaging outdoor environment, practical for everyday use, more welcoming for visitors, and better suited to supporting residents' wellbeing.
